Say Yes to Croatia & the Dalmatian Coast.
This destination is still a gem.
Just returned from a splendid vacation in Croatia; an 8 day/ 7 NT, RT Split southern Dalmatian Cruise abroad the 38 passenger Avangard, a deluxe ship of the Katarina Line. The pleasure was all mine! Port stops included the islands of Korcula, Mljet, Havar & Brac plus Dubrovnik, the Peljesac Peninsula & Split.
I enjoyed the relaxed paced of this deluxe small ship cruise itinerary. The local food & wine experiences were well done & the tours were interesting. Our guide Aida, who lived in Dubrovnik through the Croatia War of independence, 1991 – 95, was warm, insightful, knowledgeable & fun.
Do not expect to be entertained onboard ship, however; this is your chance to relax between ports of call. The Avangard Cruiser is a boutique hotel that floats. The onboard farm to table cuisine & service are excellent.
If you have more time, I would suggest adding a 7 NT land package into Croatia’s Plitvice Lake region & then perhaps Bosnia & Montenegro. You can travel via an escorted tour or independently.
While tourism in the summer months has dramatically increased since my last visit, traveling offseason late April to mid May & late Sept - October will be less crowded.
