New Zealand is a spectacular tourist destination that allows a customizable travel experience. Its North and South Islands encompass abundant natural beauty, active adventure, and numerous cultural opportunities, plus lots of sheep. (They say there are 5 sheep for every person in New Zealand!)

Home of adventure tourism, New Zealand has plenty of one-of-a-kind thrills – Bungee jumping, jet boating, water rafting, glacier hiking, canyoning, zip lining, climbing, and caving, to name a few.

Marvel at the breathtaking landscape as you explore the amazing beaches, stunning mountains, unique fjords (a long, narrow sea inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by a glacier), and pristine lakes. You can also find both single and multi day hikes with trails that suit and accommodate all abilities. Please note that some of the more advanced hikes require a guide to ensure your safety and positive experience.

Experience the unique Maori Culture by visiting Rotorua, a popular city that connects New Zealand’s cultural history to the present day. Take a tour of Mitai Maori Village and experience the area's thermal activity, similar to Yellowstone. You’ll be able to directly connect with the culture by learning the Haka, a ceremonial Maori dance made famous by the All Blacks rugby team. Rotorua is also home to Middle-earth and the Hobbiton movie set. Take a tour, grab a pint at the Dragon's Inn, and enjoy the pilgrimage around the island that provided the background for the iconic Lord of the Rings movies.

Get up close and personal with wildlife wonders, such as the native Kiwi bird – a flightless bird that has narrowly escaped extinction. In fact, New Zealand looks after the 4th largest marine territory in the world, housing almost half of all whale species in their waters. Kailoura is one of the World’s top whale-watching locations and is definitely a breathtaking experience.

If you’re a fan of vineyards and great-tasting beverages, take one of New Zealand’s many wine trails and fall in love with their Sauvignon Blanc. From my own trip, I learned that the Marlborough region of New Zealand has some of the best-tasting Sauvignon Blanc in the world. Just as Rose’s wine is best from France, the vibrancy of fruit and the zesty flavor of New Zealand ingredients allow the Marlborough region to rise above in wine quality. Even when you are back from vacation, I highly recommend remembering the Marlborough region when buying a Sauvignon Blanc.
